Freelance graphic design invoice template

Design work is often a mix of fixed-price pieces and hourly revisions. A clear invoice shows both, so the client sees exactly what the fee covers and what came on top. Edit the example below and download it as a PDF.

What to include on a freelance graphic design invoice

And the basics every invoice needs: a unique number, the issue date, when it is due, your details and the client’s, and how to pay.

A tip for freelance designers

Many designers take a deposit of 30 to 50 percent before starting and invoice the rest on delivery. If you do, put “Deposit received” as a negative line or note it on the final invoice so the balance is clear.

Questions

What should a freelance graphic design invoice include?
Your details and the client’s, an invoice number, the issue and due date, a line for each piece of work, the total, and how to pay. For freelance designers it also helps to include: the deliverable for each fixed-price line, like “Logo design, 3 concepts and final files”, so there is no argument about what was in scope; revision rounds beyond the agreement as their own hourly line; usage rights or licensing if they are part of the fee; when final files are released, for example after payment.
Is this template free?
Yes. Edit it here and download a PDF. There is no account and no watermark, and your details stay in your browser.
