Sheaf vs Toggl Track

Toggl Track is one of the best-known time trackers, with apps for every device. Sheaf is a smaller, newer tool that copies Harvest’s workflow and puts invoicing at the center. Here’s how they compare.

Short answer: pick Toggl Track if you want polished native apps, a browser extension and lots of integrations, and mainly care about tracking time. Pick Sheaf if you want Harvest’s timesheet, budgets and invoices in one place, with your Harvest history imported and no tiers to climb for invoicing.

Where Toggl Track is better

  • Native desktop and mobile apps, plus a browser extension
  • Many integrations with other tools
  • Mature, long-running product with a large user base
  • A free plan for very small teams
  • Features like idle detection and calendar-based tracking

Where Sheaf is better

  • Invoicing from tracked time is included, not a paid-tier feature
  • Budgets with email alerts at 80% and 100% included for everyone
  • Expenses and profit (cost vs revenue) in reports
  • One-click import of your Harvest history, with rates and billed status
  • Week timesheet grid that works like Harvest’s
  • One flat price per person planned, no tiers

Coming from Harvest?

Sheaf was built for people who liked Harvest’s workflow: a timer, a weekly timesheet, project budgets and invoices from tracked time. It imports your full Harvest history, including rates and which time is already billed. If Harvest’s 2026 pricing is why you’re looking, that import is the quickest way to find out if Sheaf fits.

Questions

Is Toggl Track a good Harvest alternative?
For time tracking, yes: it’s polished and has apps everywhere. For Harvest’s full workflow (budgets, invoices and expenses in one tool) you need its paid plans, and invoicing works differently from Harvest’s.
Does Toggl Track do invoicing?
Toggl lists invoicing and billable rates on its paid plans. In Sheaf, invoices built from tracked time and expenses are included for everyone.
Can I move from Toggl Track to Sheaf?
Not with a one-click import yet. Sheaf’s one-click import is for Harvest. Email us if you’re moving from Toggl and we’ll help.
Which is cheaper?
Sheaf is free during beta. After that it will be one flat price per person with everything included. Toggl Track has a free plan for small teams and per-user paid tiers; compare on their pricing page.
