A Harvest alternative that works the way Harvest used to

If Harvest’s 2026 pricing made it too expensive for your team, you have three realistic options. Here’s an honest look at each, including where Sheaf falls short.

Short answer: if you want the same timer, weekly timesheet, budgets and invoices without usage fees, try Sheaf: it imports your full Harvest history and is free during beta. If you need native apps, many integrations or online invoice payments today, look at Toggl Track or Clockify, or stay on Harvest.

What changed at Harvest

Bending Spoons acquired Harvest in July 2025. In 2026 Harvest moved to seat prices plus usage fees. The Teams plan is $9 per seat a month billed annually ($11 monthly) and Enterprise is $14 ($17.50 monthly). On top of seats come “Flex” usage fees on active projects, clients, tasks, invoices and the amount invoiced, or an “Unlimited” usage add-on. New sign-ups pick a paid billing cycle and add a card to start the trial.

For teams with many small clients, the jump was large. Customers reported bills going from $12 to $1,917 a month for a solo user, and from $79 to $938 a month for six people.

What moving to Sheaf looks like

  1. Create an account. Free during beta, no card.
  2. Create a personal access token in Harvest and paste it into Sheaf with your account ID.
  3. Sheaf copies everything: people, clients, tasks, projects with budgets, every time entry with its rate, and expenses. Already-invoiced time stays invoiced.
  4. Run both for a week if you like. Import again to pick up anything new, then switch.

Questions

What is the best Harvest alternative for a small agency?
It depends on what you used Harvest for. If you mainly need a timer and reports, Toggl Track and Clockify are mature options with native apps. If you want the Harvest workflow itself (a timer, a weekly timesheet, project budgets and invoices built from tracked time), Sheaf was built to be that, with a one-click import of your Harvest history.
Why did Harvest get more expensive in 2026?
After Bending Spoons acquired Harvest in July 2025, Harvest moved to seat prices plus usage fees on active projects, clients, tasks, invoices and the amount invoiced, with an optional “Unlimited” usage add-on. Teams with many small clients or projects saw the biggest jumps.
Can I move my Harvest history, not just my projects?
Yes. Sheaf imports every time entry with its rate, plus people, clients, tasks, projects with budgets, expenses, past invoices and estimates. Time Harvest already invoiced stays linked to its invoice, so it’s never billed twice.
Can I try Sheaf without leaving Harvest?
Yes. The import only reads from Harvest. Run both side by side, then run the import again before you switch to pick up anything new. It only adds what’s new.
Is Sheaf free?
Free during the beta, no card. Paid plans will be one flat price per person with no usage fees, announced at least 30 days ahead, with a founding discount for beta teams.
